Biden Adopts Enviromental Justice. Let's hold him to it.
Principals For Enviromental Health
  • Healthy air, clean water and safe soils are rights for all Americans
  • Polluted air, water, earth, and contamination from products have direct impacts on the health and well being of flora and fauna of our ecosystems, and on human life.
  • Children, the elderly, those with frail health and underserved communities are more at risk from harm from environmental health disruption. These populations should be prioritized for protection.
  • Corporate profit can not be valued above environmental health.
  • Corporations and/or other groups or individuals that knowingly create environmental health hazards shall be held accountable and will be legally liable to remediate the harm they have done with no statute of limitations.
  • When a corporation merges or purchases another business or corporation they are also taking on ownership of historic environmental health liability.
  • Local communities shall have autonomy over decisions for solutions to environmental health harm.
  • U.S. regulations and policy will be codified to prevent products from entering the domestic or global marketplace without adequate scientific review demonstrating a reasonable protection from environmental health harm for workers, communities, and the general population
  • The National Institutes of Environmental Health Science shall be consulted on immediate environmental health threats, funded to prioritize identify solutions, and protected from corporate attacks. The NIEHS shall further be funded and directed to identify the increasing environmental health hazards linked to climate change and work across agencies to protect the American people. Examples of this are identifying toxic threats from extreme weather such as tornadoes, flooding, high velocity storms.
  • Neurological impacts, particularly among children, appear to be linked to increased neurological environmental exposures. Schools and organizations that engage with children need to be assisted and supported in establishing environmental health protections.
  • While health impacts linked to environmental health disruption can involve a myriad of factors, U.S. policy protecting environmental health will not be thwarted with the exploitation of doubt from this dynamic.
  • Candidates and office holders who knowingly receive campaign funding from corporations identified as creating environmental health harm are expected to hold their campaign contributors accountable, and those who violate this rule will be investigated for complicity in harming the American people.
  • All U.S. regulations and policy must include the “Precautionary Principle” in regards to threats of environmental health hazards.
  • Corporations knowingly putting products in the marketplace that are linked to human health and/or environmental harm will be guilty of criminal behavior and held accountable.
  • Corporations that recognize harm from their products and that work to transform their practices to provide less harmful products shall be supported with tax incentives and priority for government contracts.
  • While corporations can deliver input on scientific research regarding environmental health protections, individuals from corporate interests can not hold decision making positions in the federal government on policies and regulations regarding environmental health protections.
